“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.” John 8:7
IN THE IMITATION OF CHRIST we read: “In judging others, a man labors in vain, often errs, and easily sins; but in judging and looking into himself, he always labors with fruit” (I, 14). In Holy Scripture God warns us of the danger of judging others.
“Do not judge, that you may not be judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you. But why dost thou see the speck in thy brother’s eye, and yet dost not consider the beam in thy own eye? Or how canst thou say to thy brother, ‘Let me cast out the speck from thy eye’; and behold, there is a beam in thy own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam from thy own eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the speck from thy brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5
“Wherefore, thou art inexcusable, O man, whoever thou art who judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou dost condemn thyself. For thou who judgest dost the same things thyself. And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who do such things. But dost thou think, O man who judgest those who do such things and dost the same thyself, that thou wilt escape the judgment of God? Or dost thou despise the riches of His goodness and patience and longsuffering? Dost thou not know that the goodness of God is meant to lead thee to repentance?” Romans 2:1-4
“Therefore, pass no judgment before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the things hidden in darkness and make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then everyone will have his praise from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5
